School eyesight drive, Pirmahal

About this camp

A team of specialists, optometrists and around forty volunteers works through the day, and nobody who registers before closing time is turned away.

Every patient gets a full examination, medicines where they are needed, and prescription spectacles made up on site. Anyone found to need surgery is added to the referral list before they leave, with a date and a hospital already assigned.

Schedule for the day

  • 7:30 am — Registration desk opens
  • 8:00 am — Screening begins, patients seen in registration order
  • 1:00 pm — Lunch is served to patients and attendants
  • 2:00 pm — Spectacle fitting and dispensing
  • 5:00 pm — Surgical referrals confirmed and the camp closes

How you can help on the day

We need volunteers for registration, queue management, translation and helping elderly patients move between stations. No medical training is required for any of those roles.
